MUMBAI: The second round of the Indian Premier League's (IPL) players auction takes place tomorrow (11 March).

18 foreign players, including Ashwell Prince and Mohammed Yousuf who were not selected by any franchise the first time around, will be up for grabs.

The other players who will be auctioned include Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez from Pakistan, Ross Taylor, Peter Fulton, Jamie How, Jeetan Patel, Chris Martin, Kyle Mills, James Franklin from New Zealand, Brad Hodge, Shane Watson, James Hopes and Luke Pomersbach from Australia.

In the first round, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Andrew Symonds went for over a million dollars. The interesting thing about Tuesday's auction is that apart from Emerging Media, which owns the Jaipur franchise, the other parties have spent most of their alloted money. Chennai only has $24,000 left to spend while Jaipur has over a million dollars still left. Reliance which owns Mumbai Indians only has a little over $50,000 left.

The franchisees can buy more foreign players from outside the list of 18. However, the teams will have to inform the IPL about the players they are targetting, and the organisers will then negotiate their base price and try to secure the no-objection certificates from their home boards.
